Climate+ is a full-time, ten-week summer research experience during which small teams of Duke undergraduate and graduate students explore new data-driven approaches to climate challenges.

Climate+ is a subset of Duke’s Data+ Program.
Who takes part in Climate+? Climate+ projects are typically proposed and led by Duke University faculty members, sometimes with external partners. Teams typically consist of up to three undergraduates from a variety of majors and one graduate student project manager.
What do students gain from taking part in Climate+? Working in a communal environment, Climate+ team members learn how to marshal, analyze, and visualize data while tackling a climate challenge. As part of Data+, participants gain broad exposure to data science through interacting with guest experts and learning from other teams. Climate+ students also engage regularly with climate, environment, and energy researchers and practitioners.
Climate+ is offered by the Rhodes Information Initiative at Duke in partnership with the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability. The program is aligned with the Duke Climate Commitment, which unites the university’s education, research, operations, and public service missions to address climate challenges.
